We got into a pool this year and they would like to be able to join the swim team next year (they can do some freestyle and backstroke from the Goldfish lessons but not well enough or far enough to join the team this year). A couple parents have recommended FINS swimming and it would be relatively convenient, but I am unsure about whether to do the outdoor or indoor program. Of the parents I talked to, their kids either did the outdoor fall/spring program OR the longer indoor program, not both. Has anyone done both and speak to which would be a better experience for a relatively new swimmer? I think they'd be in the Seahorses group, FWIW.

at 7, if your DC can swim a length(25m) they should be on the swim team and swimming everyday. You should also find out if your pool/team has a pre-team -- if your DC can't quite swim a length or is still not comfortable in the lanes, that would be the way to go.

It’s actually pretty reasonable (or was a couple years ago anyway) but the water at that Georgetown prep pool is cold!!
