I saw the house and the agent explained the circumstances. I won't share here, since the reasons are personal, but they made sense for why they would need to sell it so soon. It's a great house but does need work.

I was planning to casually pop by the open house on my way home this afternoon. There was no signage out front at all - no open house signs, no for sale sign. House looked empty. It was weird. I bailed.

Looks like all they did was put vinyl plank in the basement and want another $45K from what they paid. They were clearly already the highest bidder a few weeks ago, now they want someone to go higher? Wow! Of course in this market, who knows what will happen but this house needs so much work. That kitchen doesn't exactly scream Chevy Chase.

They're likely trying to mitigate their regret or quick change of plans (job loss or transfer?).

Wow, my house is significantly nicer in this same area. Kind of thrilled it sold for that much to begin with.

Oh I saw that house—it’s really cute! And the location is lovely. I probably would have put an offer in but decided that I am done with DCPS, but I like it’s character!

There's a 0.0 percent chance this sells for $1.4 or $1.5. It'll get asking, at minimum.

If I wanted to spend $1.7 million on an old, ugly, unrenovated house, I would totally choose this one. And then regret it one week later, just like the current owners.

Based on what's currently out there, they'll get their price.

$1.4 or $1.5 maybe.

$1.6M is hardly a high enough price range where people don't make mistakes and have regrets.

First listed in May and went straight to pending, sale closed on June 2. Now it's back on the market for ~45k more....
