Atlantis is a zoo as they sell day passes and cruise ship people come in

Beaches is 100 percent sold out 52 weeks a year and only for guests Spring break no more crowded than slowest day of year

Fwiw, their streets and highways are marked exactly the same as they are here in the US. It’s very easy to drive there.

For families, Puerto Rico hands down. Fly kites at El Morro fort in Old San Juan with the kids. You can buy the kites there. Go to El Yunque rainforest, hike, swim, sail, eat….it’s a great and interesting place to visit with families.

Forget both and do St Croix. It has everything you need. Delicious food, beautiful beaches, local island culture.

St John is also a wonderful option but pricier and may feel more crowded. Book asap if you decide to go there.

Bahamas will have great weather then but everything felt like a cash grab to me. Outrageous prices for mediocre food and very crowded. I’d go to PR

PR for sure! I’d avoid resorts and spend a few days in Old San Juan and a few days somewhere else.

If you don't have a Ritz budget, that probably rules out Atlantis, which most people seem to describe as "meh" anyway.

We've done both and PR multiple times. They are different, both great. PR is definitely cheaper.

Oh and we did Vieques back in Feb for Presidents Day weekend, water was chilly then, but fine. So I would trust March water in PR.

Check water temps, we don't love chilly water and punted our trip to Eleuthera to June.

I've never been to Bahamas. We went to Puerto Rico last summer because hotels and flights were cheaper than Bahamas. We really enjoyed the vacation - it was easy to drive around the island, lots of beautiful beaches, lovely restaurants in San Juan. We stayed in a hotel because there are power outages in Puerto Rico and not all the rentals have a generator. It may not be too warm during Spring break but it was hot the week we were there last summer.

I'd choose PR. Your money will go further there than Atlantis. Food is better, there are more things to do.

Traveling with two elementary aged kids. Will Atlantis be an absolute zoo during spring break? What's the best family-friendly resort in Puerto Rico? We don't have Ritz budget.
