I just spent $1000 on tiles for a walk in shower only (previous owner converted a tub to a shower, so we're just retiling the shower, keeping the rest of the bathroom as is). This was one of the cheapest options available at The Tile Shop and included delivery. It's not cheap, but our contractor said they did not recommend Home Depot/Lowe's tile.

I spent about $20/square foot on our cheaper guest bath shower, which is a decent but lower cost porcelain tile.
Our primary bathroom's shower has a handmade tile that was about $60/square foot. Eye watering final bill, but really stunning and it's our forever home.

Try the Tile Shop too. I had a great experience with their Rockville shop. Three full baths, about $7k, 3 years ago.

How many square feet? Wainscoting or just floor and shower? And yes, I’d just go to floor and decor. Their stone is pretty bad quality (likely 3rd scrape and worse) but their porcelain is great

Wanted to echo the above that Floor and Decor has the best prices and selection because they've already shipped the tile to that store.

I spent $600 on tile for a small powder room (floor and one decorative wall) from tilebar.com
and around $1K for a full bath for a bath surround in marble tile and a floor in very basic wood plank style tile.

I think you should buy what you love and don't sweat the cost. Tile is hard to change out.

Tile has very high markup because it’s heavy so significant freight costs and easily damaged.

That sounds right assuming they are not totally basic. We chose nice, not white, tiles for two showers and they cost about $1900 for one and $2500 for the other.

I was totally shocked when we had to swap out a floor. I think our bathroom floor tile was $750-800. So your quote sounds right.

What is crazy depends on your budget and what you want. I bought the cheapest tiles out there (floor and decor baby!) and spent maybe 300 or 350 (pre-inflation spike), because I am not a millionaire and tile wasn't my priority. I splurged on fixtures. I'm really happy with the bathroom. I do sort of wish I had gone for a tile that wasn't quite so white but goodness just doing the cheapest white subway tile made everything so easy.

It's midrange, non-white, ceramic tile. I was told white is a lot cheaper. Is this a crazy amount to spend on tile?
