You just need to be smart about the income you have.

People are so out of touch with how hard life used to be. They have truly lost all perspective. Op you need to go camping for a month with no electronics you will be 1000xs happier I bet.

You aren’t entitled to it; you have to earn it.

People go to college to work in professions and those jobs don’t earn enough to support a family. What else do you think they should do to “earn” it?

$250K is not middle class. That's upper class and wealthy. Middle class is when you barely pay your bills, live in a small basic house under $300K (usually $150K, etc.

OP also seems to be contemplating that each member of a household must earn 250K, so 500K HHI. This is a little extreme -- however, I will say that if you are a parent who will be paying for multiple kids to go to college, especially "elite" private colleges, that is really expensive.

Where will you find a house for $150k? Even a townhouse or condo? The pp is right, the problem is housing costs.

It's really just housing costs that screwed everything up. We're all spending too much on housing so money feels tight for the other stuff.

There are a lot of people in law not making $250K+.... DCUM is skewed towards BigLaw and GS-15s...

I make $100K, $180K household, and we have a comfortable middle class life. There's not much I want that we don't have.
