My kid hit someone in parking lot and left not with real phone number and guy attempted to blackmail me.

Was yelling and screaming, demanded I meet him with $1,500 cash in some sketchy part of town.

He was repeating your 19 year daughter when I report to insurance insurance through roof. Then I got multiple phone calls and texts with harassment. I met him in person at a body shop to pay repair. He shows up demanding cash no receipt. He then leaves furious and sends one more nasty text and one more voice mail and disappears.

But he filed insurance claim, never got car fixed as he ghosted my insurance and my insurance skyrockets up.

That’s why folks drive away or leave a fake number

^^^ This. I did this exact thing. But only because the suv I backed into was literally festooned with RWNJ stickers and I didn’t want them knowing who I was because I feared they would stalk me because of my politics. But people were watching and I had to make a show of it like I was leaving my information. I even googled the NRA headquarters local number in Virginia so they’d be extra confused when they dialed it, lolz.

I felt I owed it to them.

I thought about this, but it goes through to a voicemail for a woman. If they gave someone else's number, you'd think that person would reply and defend themselves and say they have no idea what I am talking about??

Can't remember the last time I checked my voicemail.

Anyway, doesn't matter. Call your insurance company.

Yes, call the insurance company and let them earn their money. Send them an image of the note.

Of course, you might pursue your own investigation if you drive a Peugeot 403.....
“just one more thing…”

Right? This is why we pay for insurance. Give the phone number to them and let them deal with it.

Try texting. Some people never answer calls from unknown numbers.

They likely assume it is a scam and ignore.

Not necessarily. I got calls about someone else’s prescription and just ignored. Not my problem to fix. Blocked.

Just curious what are you expecting to happen when and if she answers?

At $2,500 if you file insurance claim will Jack her rates.

Are you willing to let her pay direct?

If so where? I got quotes on my car recently a snooty through insurance guy place quoted $6,000. My local guy pay by check $3,000.

It's probably not their real phone number. When they damaged your car, there were witnesses, so the swiper had to pretend they were doing the right thing and leaving a note.

Someone swiped my car and probably did about $2500 worth of damage. They left an apologetic note with their phone number offering to give insurance information. However despite multiple calls and texts, they are not answering me at all. This was in DC. What are my options?
