Are you in a state where abortion is legal? If not, I would be super careful with birth control. If you wind up pregnant and want to terminate for medical reasons, you may be forced to carry to term. Or you may have a miscarriage and be unable to seek medical care for yourself until you are "sick enough."

OP this is so stupid. Why take a totally unnecessary risk with your health? Use birth control. Don’t be ridiculous.

Yes it happens. However, if you're serious about wanting to get pregnant start IVF immediately. (Today!)

My son's best friend's mom did. She married at 44 (first marriage) and wasn't going to jump through hoops to have a kid but figured if it happened, it happened, and so they weren't doing anything to prevent.

My husband’s grandma had a baby at age 50 back in the 50s. It always amazes me.

Look around at your family - has anyone had kids at 45+? On either side? For me, that answer is no, so I am comfortable going without at 45.

If my family was like the one where grandmothers did, I’d stay on BC.

It definitely happens. There’s a much higher risk of miscarriage, which would be unpleasant. Why would you want to risk it, if you’re not trying to get pregnant? Could your partner get a vasectomy?

I know so many people who did. If you really don’t want a kid, then use birth control.

A family friend got pregnant around 45-46. Her mom was also fertile for a long time— she had her youngest when her oldest was pregnant with her grandchild.

I did but I miscarried. I had my kids at 41 and 44.

I know several people who have. Especially because you had a baby at 42, I would assume you could still get pregnant now.

I am not trying to get pregnant, just not being careful with birth control at that age. I don’t want another child though probably won’t terminate in the 0.1% chance that it happens. Or is the probability higher is what I am asking?
Zero issues conceiving our kids at age 38 and 42, if that matters.
