Agree, my DD is Level 2 for 2nd grade, and my expectations are zero. She was also Level 2 for first grade and her first grade teacher didn't even know about it. When I asked in a parent-teacher conference about what activities was she doing for Level 2, the teacher was all puzzled, she didn't even know about it.

Same here. It was just push in or pull out groups. Didn’t seem like a big deal, and my kid didn’t make it to level IV services for 3rd.

Same. A whole lot of nothing. And we are at one of the schools considered very good by DCUM standards.

Generally all this means is that your child is on the radar for IV services in 3rd grade. Level 2 is implemented differently in each school, but it is generally just break-out groups with the AART once a week; maybe more maybe less, depending on the school. Sometimes all this means is different or additional worksheets than the normal gen Ed.

I know of no school grouping children earlier than 3rd grade

We weren't even expecting this. Just got a letter saying our 1st grader/rising 2nd grader is admitted to Local school AAP Level II. AAP Level II is for K-6 so this is different from Level III-IV for grade 3-6.

I guess he'll go, of course, but how are they managing this? Are they going to group all the level II kids in one grade 2 class and the teacher will teach ahead sometime during the week? The class will still be mixed with gegn ed students right? I know I can chat with AAP coordinator but would like to hear from others went through this.

Thanks.
