Why do parents do this? When I used FB years ago, I had to ask my parents to stop posting my baby photos every year on my birthday. I didn’t like it. I understand the need for privacy and don’t post photos of my kids. They can post themselves on their own social media if they want.

I am glad I wasn't an oversharer.

What actually is an “over sharer”? I think it’s relative. If one posts what they think is adequate, then, it shouldn’t matter to you. I posted very few pics of my kid for personal reasons, so to me you probably are an Oversharer.

Ask your kid.

I never shared embarrassing photos and I have gone back and made many posts private so they are no longer visible.

I am glad I wasn't an oversharer.

We didn’t share many of the more embarrassing baby pictures on Facebook. Waiting for a better time to bring those out.

DD doesn't use FB, and has no problems with her younger pics/videos on there. She enjoys looking at them and will often ask me to send them to her so she can share with her friends. I haven't posted any new ones of her since she turned 11 or so, will put up things like performances, but linked to YouTube, and take down the post in a couple of days. She's okay with that.

His friends probably have their pics somewhere on there also.

My kid knows about any photos I shared. I’ve made 99% of them private now so only DH and I can see them now, but that’s due to my evolved privacy desires vs my kid’s. He’s fine with the photos as none are weird or embarrassing and says it’s my choice. When they come up as memories, I always send him a screenshot off my phone which is fun.

They don't know or care because they don't use Facebook.

Anything they might get embarrassed about now if their friends saw it? I probably have a few bath-time pics still on my Facebook but they are cute.

I've never been a big social media poster/sharer, but I did stop posting the occasional picture of my kids years ago when they asked me to. A few old pictures of them when they were little are still there, but you'd have to go looking for them and my teens haven't said anything.

Most teens don’t use Facebook. Some teens care about approving every image of them that is put online. Others don’t. Ask your teen.

They do not use Facebook, but my teen told me that she wants to approve any photo I put "out into the world"

I think this generation is way more aware of the permanence of the internet and social media.

What do teens think about seeing their baby pics and posts from when they were little being on Facebook or Instagram? Do teens now even use Facebook?
