I doubt vaseline will increase your probability of picking up ticks. They actually might have a more difficult time attaching.

We’ve recently started using Vaseline as a regular moisturizer. I’ve been using it to cover my medication for eczema and now I’m curious if ticks would be able to stick into skin if it’s covered in Vaseline. We are headed to hike in Maine in a few weeks.
