This ranking ranks VT architecture as #1 in the nation. I have a friend who went to Cal Poly SLO for architecture a long time ago. It’s ranked #4 on this list. He said that program was no joke. Very hard work.

Interesting. A friend of mine got her degree there in the late 90s and was OOS. She now lives in Richmond area.

It's easier to get in out of state because only a small % of OOS students accept the offer. So, they have to offer acceptance to more to get the # (and $) they want. It's also expensive OOS and gives little merit so OOS kids often have more affordable comparable schools to choose from. The majority of every class is still VA students.

True--but I still felt that VT was a great value, even OOS. A couple years ago my son looked at B Arch programs at top arch schools, including Cornell, Carnegie Mellon, Syracuse, Penn State and VT. VT looked like a good deal!

Not sure is this is legitimate (sounds "official"), but Architect magazine contends that Tech has the top undergraduate program in the COUNTRY.

VT’s school of architecture is very highly rated. They have been rated as top 7 or 8 in the country for the B. Arch five-year degree. My son goes to Cornell for architecture, but VT was near the top of his list.

Crap! When you drill down to specific profiles of interest, acceptance rates are terrible, especially for Asian Males non-first gen!

Yes, there aren’t that many schools of architecture so admittance is extremely competitive.

Does this make any sense? Makes me think that the Common Data Set isn't very reliable
