It's easier to get in out of state because only a small % of OOS students accept the offer. So, they have to offer acceptance to more to get the # (and $) they want. It's also expensive OOS and gives little merit so OOS kids often have more affordable comparable schools to choose from. The majority of every class is still VA students.
True--but I still felt that VT was a great value, even OOS. A couple years ago my son looked at B Arch programs at top arch schools, including Cornell, Carnegie Mellon, Syracuse, Penn State and VT. VT looked like a good deal!
