I think around 1/2 of those who appeal are successful. That number comes from different AARTs over the years. And it seems about right from my experience.

Op here. We got in on appeal. Her comment just rained on my parade a little lol.

So you thought your friend was trying to bring you down by saying that your kid isn’t special by being accepted into AAP on appeal?

I am not sure if you are petty for being happy that your kid was accepted and feeling less special because everyone else was or for thinking that your friend was that spiteful. Either way, it is not a good look for you.

I don't care about having a "good look" on an anonymous forum lol.

A lot of people think they know a lot of things.

You'll run into this a lot in the world of education.

Anonymous wrote:Definitely not everyone gets in on appeal. There was one report in the Washington Post that 50% of appeals get in, but it was several years ago.

I remember that. It also said those 50% were all no-brainers who either had excellent test scores and GBRS scores but had inexplicably been rejected first round or had a high WISC score (back when that was heavily weighted), or both. Which from other recent threads continues to be the case.

A friend of mine told me almost every kid gets into AAP on appeal to avoid lawsuits. I looked at the AAP report from 2020 and there's no data on how many get in on appeal, just that about 19% of those rejected decide to appeal. Anyone have any insight on the actual number?
