If you happen to be around on the weekend for breakfast Florida Avenue Grill is a classic.

I've always wondered about that place. The website says it's the oldest soul food restaurant in the world.

I like Bens! I mean once you’ve done it you’ve done it but since you haven’t been I think it’s a solid choice. I love the chili cheese half smoke

You go to Ben’s for the history, not the food, but it’s still worth going.

The food at Ben's is not good; unless you have a stomach of iron, take some antacids! Quattro Osteria is a nice choice on the corner of 6th St.

Ben's is fun for out of towners, the chili half smoke and the chili cheese fries are classics.

Nicer places for dinners:
El Secreto de Rosita
Maydan
Maiz64 (more in logan circle but walkable)
Etto (same as above)

Fun for day or more casual dinners:
Garden District
Ted's Bulletin (esp for tweens/teens)
Taqueria Xochi

Le Diplomate is good, people have mixed feelings but it's always a hit with guests. It's good for brunch/lunch.

Emme Squared Pizza, Lost Society, Ted's Bulletin.

Where are good places to eat near the U St Metro these days?

I've lived in DC area so many years and haven't had a chance to try Ben's Chili bowl but guests want to go. What's classic to get there?

The group will be back in that area several days so would love all recommendations. Happy to walk to the surrounding area. Adventure eaters and tweens, teens.
