This seems to vary from HS to HS. DC graduated from Blair and it felt like there were very few honors society regalia items, but there were cords for the magnet, CAP, academies, etc. Our other child graduated from a W school, and they had many more opportunities for cords, etc.

This sounds like a everyone is a winner/participation award philosophy. Everyone is in a magnet, CAP or an academy. It's redundant to saying you graduated from Blair.

Distinction here is medals vs cords. At WCHS, there are tons of different colored cords-- for all of the honors societies and whatnot. So many that they're kind of meaningless. Far fewer medals, and you'd assume those are somehow a bigger deal but the bi-literacy thing is much less prestigious than some of the items with just a cord.

At QO they had close to 40 different kinds of cords

I think there was a medal given for the DAR award, but that would be for only one person. Perhaps there are some other one-off medals for the individual awards.

I think they may have had something for a really high amount of service hours.

Not Churchill but DC's school also had the biliteracy seal and I think some kids had something for getting their associate's degree at the time time as their high school certificate.

My kid graduated a few years ago so I don't have details. But at the time, there was a kind of 'legend' with the colors of the cords, etc. I don't think it was emailed to parents or anything. Either the kids had it or else it was somewhere on the website.

From that time period, I think there was only one medal though (biliteracy). The rest were cords of various colors.

Hi:
My DD just graduated Churchill. I was at graduation, but confused about the awards--the round medal worn at graduation, one was for the seal of biliteracy and the other was for what? Does anyone know?

Also, did they send out a link for what awards kids received?

Thanks in advance, obviously my DD didn't get any
