I often take the 495 option when going north on 95 around Philly. Would that avoid the affected section?

You switch over at the bridge from Wilmington to NJ. You don't need to stay on 95 through PA.

I suppose we'll all find out if you're correct. This is going to take months to fix.

They’ll have a temporary fix faster than that

I'm guessing the people here saying NBD drive on that stretch of 95 once every year or 2 so it is NBD to them. To anyone driving in that area regularly, yes it's a very big deal. Sure traffic will head over to 295 and NJT but have you been on 295 lately? The approach to 295 via Del Mem has been under construction for years and that approach can easily take 30 min to even get to the bridge. So yeah while 295 and NJT will take that traffic, let's not act like it won't stress the system further.

The local news said that 160,00 cars use that stretch each day. I personally use 295 in NJ and I really don't want to see any extra traffic there, it's plenty busy enough. The NJ Turnpike could handle a bit more traffic in this area. But the reality is that a lot of people live in PA and travel solely in PA and those people are going to have a much more stressful commute for the next few months. Deliveries and vacation traffic will be affected, too, even if they jump over to Jersey.

Wow, that's pretty blase. Pretty much any part of 95 collapsing, let alone near a city is a very big deal. Even with NJT/295 traffic, lots and lots of people take 95 near Philly.

Get off the Delaware Memorial at the NJ Turnpike and travel parallel to 95. Easy.

Well, this is going to cause big big problems. Shipment, delivery issues and of course big travel issues.
