Signed offer letter is a worthless piece of paper.

My new job I started April 17. Pre April 17 offer can be pulled. Not on benefits new job till May 1.

If offer pulled I am out of luck and I rather wait till May 1 for last day old job so I am on medical new job

It sounds like you work for/are hired by shit companies. Literally every job I've had since my first one has been a job I've been recruited into by a former colleague, so the idea of a job offer being pulled out from under me with less than two weeks notice is highly unlikely when a company has put this much work into recruiting me, LOL.

Why would you do that? I always wait to give notice.

What are you waiting for?

Till first day at my new job at earliest.

Offer can get pulled.

I did it on a Tuesday - as soon as I got my offer letter. I wanted to give no more than two weeks notice.

He may get nasty, if you are a critical loss.

Without knowing the personalities involved, I would say this is unlikely, if OP is a critical loss. Instead, the boss will want to make sure that everything is transitioned over appropriately.

Wish him luck, he needs it more than me

Should've left a Post-it note on his desk a la Seinfeld style

It might not matter as much to him as you think.
