Getting on a plane alone exposes us to tons of germs. I think you have anxiety. I'm not going to stop my kids from having fun fore fear they may get sick. Do you stop then from running bc they may brake an arm?

Your friend should get over this. If she is a good friend she would know you are anxious ans accept the quirk. Medication may help you.

OP. I’m not worried about Covid! We haven’t worn masks since they were no longer mandatory (maybe why we’ve had it three times now lol). More like stomach bugs, ear infections, etc. I’d like to avoid if possible.

Anyway, I guess I am more neurotic than most of you, which is fine. I asked for honesty after all!

I know plenty of people that do this before big trips, such as overseas, Disney, cruises, etc.

OP. Fair enough. I’ll take the weirdo title. But to be clear they aren’t kept indoors - they still play outside and in the pool all day etc but we just avoid germy places like parties and indoor play places.

It doesn’t matter what anyone here does or doesn’t do before a vacation. You do you.

The only thing you owe this “friend” is plenty of notice that your kid will not be attending the party. Drop off a small gift and be on your way. An adult who is refusing to talk to someone over this has questionable maturity.

Not common and weird. Are you or your kids particularly susceptible to getting sick? Do you isolate them on vacation? At some point, you have to let them go out there and live life.

No. We did during the pandemic before visiting elderly grandparents, but otherwise no. The kids are in daycare or school or whatever anyway.
