It’s somewhat about sex. I think maybe sex has declined in importance somewhat which, in turn, makes the betrayal feel a little less severe.

When I was younger, I'd have quickly said "yes." But, we've been together 20 years, have a really great life, and sex just doesn't loom as large as it once did in my mind.

I think it's highly unlike that she would, and maybe I'd still find it a marriage ender. But now I'm more open to the idea that there are possible contexts where I'd forgive and work through the damage.

Yes, we are an older couple but if that ever happens, we will go our separate ways. Once the trust is broken, foundation is gone.
