What do you expect management to say, OP? It really depends on higher ups. Generally speaking, congress wants RTO, and Biden does too to some extent but clearly not enough to force the issue. The people who call the shots are most likely not in your building. Most agencies, who still have it, are fine with WFH as its a benefit that costs them little to nothing and allows for a bigger candidate pool.

Everyone is going to stay in place until they have to do otherwise.

We’re probably in the same agency. Have only been in twice since 3/2020– to renew creds and to clean out my office space. The lease on our DC area buildings ran out. HQ not DC based or reasonably commutable. There is very limited hoteling downtown if needed and that’s it. Feel pretty safe in 5 days a week telework being permanent because they spent several years trying to move our offices to a new space and got nowhere. Starting from scratch isn’t realistic.

We just started Union negotiations. Looks like the big issue isn’t keeping 5 days a week. It’s whether we are FT telework/ must live in the DMV or become fully remote/ can live anywhere. Come on fully remote!

+1 we have been back between 1-3 days a week for a year (depending on position, I come in two days/week). It's mostly been really great, though I would prefer not to move to 3 days a week myself

My group in my agency has been far remote and local remote since the pandemic. Even changed our SF-50s to reflect our home duty stations. But more recently the word is no immediate changes anticipated. So we’re in a holding pattern.

Sounds like many are already in "don't rock the boat" phase in prep for '24.

We're still at 2 days/pp in DOI, but I think that's just because change is slow and not transparent here. Only trust agencies that have actively reaffirmed their policy.

I’m a federal contractor and I’m expected to come in once a week. I come in more than the average fed worker outside of department heads. They’re supposed to be coming in 1-2 days a week, but most aren’t. I expect this to change if Biden loses the ‘24 election. I feel like my one day a week is pretty generous, most private sector people I know have to go in 3 days a week.

Same here. We got an email the other day from the 2nd in charge that was as wishy-washy as could possibly be. We are all just doing as we've been doing, which is mostly 1 day a week in the office.

Yep - to ignore what we see in the newspaper as “posturing” and just keep our heads down and get the work done. Same message as always, and it’s a good one.

My agency is still "keep doing what you've been doing" policy. Some folks are in, most are still doing 100% WFH. Given the fact that we are slowing getting into 2024 election cycle, I am not sure if anything will change. If you are still in WFH posture, are you hearing anything from management??
