Running around outside, or camp. No screens til 4:30 pm. Back outside after dinner until it’s dark. Going to the swimming pool for a few hours on weekends.

Both kids in year round sports, so the beat drums on. 1.5-2h swim practice daily, mtn biking a couple of times a week, family hike once a week, soccer practice twice a week for younger one, 1 h dryland/weights 3 times a week for older one. Older one will also bike 5 mi round trip to work. Kids also enjoy rock climbing, paddleboarding, water sports, but only once or twice over the whole summer. Older one will do a 3 week backpacking trip at the end of the summer. 11 and 14 years old. They are both more active than me.

How is this different from the school year? If anything pool and playground are probably more movement than school year. My 7 year old moves all day long in camp, even the camps that aren't sports themed. No need for "exercise" just opportunity for movement and having fun.

My DD7 is doing a bunch of sports camps like field hockey, tennis, golf, etc so I feel like she's getting enough exercise, especially in the heat. On the off weeks the pool, the playground and our backyard is enough.

You don't have a personal trainer coming daily also, along with a registered dietician working with a personal chef to optimize all their work? Wow, what a slacker.

What type of exercise do you have your child do during the summer besides pool and park?
