We heard that ES SOL scores would be on SIS the last week of school. Knowing FCPS, that means the last day. I believe the unofficial score will also be included in your students report card folder. If I had younger kids, I would absolutely opt them out of these tests where the schools are hoarding information and not releasing scores to parents.

3’s in AAP math should have been a flag to you. They are doing 6th grade math, if he is not mastering that content quickly, ie 4’s, then he is struggling. They expect the Grade 5 AAP kids to know the base concepts solid and hit the grade 6 content.

My kids said their ES teachers indicated they would be posted to SIS by the end of the school year (also have a 6th grader who is eager to find out about algebra).

My kid's math teacher told them if she was allowed to let them know, she would... but I think she was told she had to wait til the "official" release. The school said they'd be posted in SIS the week of June 12.

The teacher did tell the kids that of the kids that scored well enough to get into Algebra on the Iowa test, only 3-4 didn't get pass advances (i.e., the vast majority that qualified based on the Iowa also qualified based on SOL). She told me that she was 99% sure my kid was in the clear for Algebra, but we'll find out next week. DS has actually been pretty anxious about it and putting way too much emphasis on getting into Algebra.

Last year, we found out the score on June 1st in an email from the MS (RRMS), well before we got the scores from the school. Not all MS do this.

The teachers know the tests right away. The principal tells them to not reveal.

Find your grade level and it will show the tests, when they are given, when and where the results will be shared.

Why all the secrecy about SOLs? They are a factor in determining math placement, so we’d like to know sooner rather than later.

Your child could have failed the test, but the score was lower than the retake range. If that’s the case, you would not have been contacted.

You can call the school and ask for your child’s score. Some principals will share the results and some will not.

The results will eventually be in SIS.

Do elementary schools release the SOL scores to parents or do we just assume our student has a passing score if we don't hear anything?
