I don’t know. Unless you are COMMITTED to ALWAYS wear the gloves (what about when you travel or help at a friends house) I think you could easily develop unsafe habits.

I grated my thumb on a box grater so badly I needed stitches. The cheese was ruined.

So are avocado palm/finger cuts from getting out the pit. I was told this by ER doc when I was having my own injury from that source stitched up.

Yeah, I worked at a bagel shop and we had to slice EVERY bagel in the specified safe way and, we would absolutely get screamed at by the manager if we tried a different method.

A severe burn on my forearm from reaching in a narrow wall oven and brushing up against the broiler (set to HI). I didn’t drop that full tray of food but I haven’t made Polynesian chicken since. And that was 25+ yrs ago and “the scar” is still there.

I sliced the top of finger on my mandolin a few Thanksgivings ago & promptly threw the thing out. I don't trust myself with it.

I spilled a pot of boiling pasta water on myself when I was taking it to the sink. I still have the remnants of a scar on my stomach.

Use Kevlar gloves with knives and mandolines.

I'm 50 and I was just showing my kid the scar I have from making a cup noodles when I was a tween (spilled boiling water on my hand). I also lit my shirt on fire leaning over a gas burner (20s) and had a deep 2nd degree burn on my arm, but that one could have been a lot worse.

Cut the tip off my index finger when I was 22. Roommate left an extremely sharp knife half sticking out of the knife block but it was in the middle so I didnt see it. Now I'm missing half the tip of that finger.

I have a scar on the back of my hand from a bad burn from hitting it against the top of the oven when checking the food. Then my idiot self put winter gloves on the next day and tore a massive layer of skin off when taking them off.

I'd say those are my biggest. Lots of other cuts and minor burns though

I received a tetanus a few years ago due to a cut. Prepare for a SORE arm. Happy healing! And,I almost forgot, I cut the tip of my finger (required a dozen stitches) with a hedge clipper a decade ago and hurt like a bear too. The tip of your of your finger s very sensitive.

Sliced the tip of my thumb off slicing olives 🫒 on Taco Tuesday. Had to go to urgent care that night as it wouldn’t stop bleeding.

Had had a physical and earlier and saw I had my last booster 10 years ago.

What injuries have you had while cooking?

A friend sliced his palm horribly using his Mandolin and once I had to get stitches when I cut my hand on a just opened can of green beans.
