Just don't do dark grout - I think that will look dated at some point.

It’s as close to “timeless” or “neutral” as you’re going to get and it sounds like for the style of your house it’s fine.

I wouldn't say it's timeless, otherwise your builder grade shower would probably have it already instead of the squares but I don't think it's "out" either.

I just put white subway in two small bathrooms. I don’t see how anything else wouldn’t be more trendy and therefore dated as much or worse

I've never looked at subway tiles and thought "dated," regardless of when they were put in.



+1 And even if they're "out" at a given time, they always always come back.

I mean I am not high design person myself. My main criteria is "easy to clean"

At this point anything would be better than my current linoleum floor and peeling vaneer vanity (I am not even sure its vaneer, its like particle board with wood looking sticker lol)

Our current bathrooms are 90s builders grade and essentially falling apart at this point. They are in drastic need of a remodel. They are very small. I have three boys and just want something easy to clean. Are subway tiles out now? My house is nothing fancy (essentially a 1990s pre fab split foyer house).

I like the following but was wondering if that style of tile is out? I like the idea of tiling up the walls because the kids are gross and i feel like I am constantly cleaning the walls and tile would be easy to wipe clean. I like how simple this looks and it seems classic (minus hardware colors which I think are the trendiest thing about it lol).
