Agree but overall SPED in FCPS is in trouble. They are not staffed correctly(teacher shortage) and are relying on teachers to have three grade levels-deal with intense parents-intense behaviors and now even more teachers are resigning. The kids in FCPS with IEP's are not getting what they need hence the "bad IEP's".
And the paperwork/meetings could be it's own job.

FCPS is doing a lot to improve here. Your best bet is to ask the Language Arts special ed curriculum specialist to attend your IEP and oversee what services and programs are offered. If they are involved, the principal has to assign a teacher with the time and expertise to deliver the services.

An honest question, are any districts good for reading and math issues?
Any district can be good if you have a good IEP. Most people don’t have a good IEP.
So what makes a good IEP? If the issue is reading, and how do you get the school system to deliver specialized instruction when they continually push back about everything?

Any district can be good if you have a good IEP. Most people don’t have a good IEP.
Overall FCPS is just bad at IEP's and SPED....it's not just reading. It's getting worse because they have burnt out teachers so at this point it's a revolving door of educators coming and going. Inclusion and self contained teachers are leaving.

FCPS is terrible for reading issues. There are several ongoing lawsuits, the NAACP has gotten involved- it is a total mess.
