The perception of government workers living in Bethesda is so wrong. I would think there are more government worker in Tysons. Bethesda is a smaller and more walkable than Tyson, in general. But if you live in the outskirt of Bethesda or Tysons, you have to drive. So really, the question is: do you have a specific neighborhood in either area that you're targeting?

Bethesds. Tysons has to deal with their insane Richmond overlords.

The key here is "Tysons area" and "Bethesda area" as opposed to "Tysons" and "Bethesda."

I'd rather live in the Tysons area (i.e., McLean and Vienna) than the Bethesda area, but I'd also rather live in downtown Bethesda than in Tysons if those were the choices, although Tysons is getting better in terms of amenities besides the malls.

Government drones are not living in Bethesda. Not even Government contractors who let's be real is the majority of the worker bees in Tysons. A ton of people in Bethesda are lawyers, doctors, lobbyists, finance professionals, professors, and scientists. I've lived in both and would take Bethesda any day.

Bethesda. No question.

tysons, no questions there.

Tyson's is still evolving, Bethesda will continue to be what it is.

Bethesda 100 percent if you have kids. Tysons is like living in a shopping mall surrounded by highways.

You should definitely visit both. They are very different feeling and I'm sure you will notice and see what fits your lifestyle best. Bethesda is a walkable small city. Tysons is a series of malls and offices straddling a major highway.

Tyson's. MoCo is circling the drain under Elrich. Unless of course you're the type of person who would have voted for him, in that case please go to MD.

I will say Bethesda until college time, then I will say Tysons for VA instate tuition.

You will get more house for your money in Tysons.

If you had the option of working/living in Tysons area or Bethesda area with 2 elementary age children in public schools, which would you choose? We would be renting the first year and our budget would go up to 5k/month.
