Except that the places mentioned are real...she just changed the names or omitted them.

I thought it was the best of her books. It was fun.

I didn't love the career decision at the end and I think it would have been more believable if she had been earlier in her career or in a different field.

This wasn't my least favorite - but I've grown tired of her overwrought emotions. It's also just too freaking long for the action.

The side characters are so underdeveloped (especially given the book length!).

And the decision the lead character makes is absolutely insane and makes no sense. Good luck with those student loans.

I love her other books but this was my least favorite. If you go into it knowing its a light read, and not meant to be a literary classic, I think its good and does the job as another beach read

I didn't like Book Lovers by Emily Henry although others raved about it, so I doubt I would even try Happy Place.

Very meh for me. No character development, no real tension. The whole story was just a function of poor communications among the main characters.

And even though I'm a sucker for a happy ending, I agree with the PP - the big life decision that enabled the finale was just absurd.

I didn’t like her other books and loved this one. I think the miscommunication in her other books made the characters seem like teenagers. Happy Place is solidly young adult or new adult.

I didn’t hate it but it was my least favorite of all her books. I was disappointed, it just didn’t feel like there was much to the story.

There were some flaws--for me, the main issue was the friend group which I found super annoying. The "annoying drunk people" vibe was spot on, maybe a little too realistic. But I do like her voice so I kept on and still enjoyed it. Not as much as her previous ones but I'm still glad I read it and would read more in the future.

It was so bad. I finished it but it was painful to get through. Reminded me of bad indie stuff on kindle unlimited. I think the ones who love it either are (rightly) enamored of her as an author because her other books are so good and they’re loyalty is blinding them, or are totally happy with any romance as long as it’s readable.

I couldn’t wait to read it and I was quite disappointed. I really liked her other books and while they are all predictable, I felt as though she really phoned it in on this one.
I will not preorder next one of hers but will wait to get it thru library.

I finally read it this weekend after my social feeds being absolutely plastered with this book for days. The Goodreads reviews are hilarious - people either gushing over Emily Henry or tearing apart each sentence. Have you read it? What’s your take?
