We paid $5600 for level one at Sunrise. Nice, sunny studio with private bath. My mom had a long term care policy that paid for it.

It’s all out of pocket.

Thanks for sharing. Wow. What are the options for people who cannot afford this? Are there nursing homes that are covered by insurance? (Even if they are dreadful sometimes you have to take what you can get…)

Obviously it’s great if family can provide the care, but that isn’t always possible.

I’m telling DH we need to save way more, eat better, and do cardio daily (early 40s). No idea what I will do about my parents in the not-so-distant future. I’m 100% they don’t have the cash flow for assisted living!

We are happy with the place and they are loving and caring. I hear Sunrise is much more expensive and they charge for every service and food is not as good.

Would you mind sharing the name of this facility; thank you!

Cadence in Olney is $7500 with level one care for a nice 1br. Everything is provided including transportation to doctors and hair appointments. It’s very nice and the staff has been great. It’s sort of like an old ladies sorority house (with a few men).

Just north of NYC, I pay a little over $8000/month for a one-bedroom.

In rural PA, but my mom started in level 2 assisted living in a double room for $3500. She's now in memory care, level 4, in a double room for $7800.

We pay just over $9k for my mom in Ashburn. 500-ish square foot studio, medication management, level 2 care (which I’m fighting them on, I think she only needs level 1) and an extra program for people with cognitive issues. Room only is about $6500 but it’s never just room only at these places.

We are in richmond, so not the same price point. However, we pay 7k/month for a large, bright one bedroom in a fairly high end place, but only level 1 assistance (medication management). I also pay someone to come in 2x/week to help out my mom with whatever (laundry, hair appointment, listening to her endless complaints and sympathizing with what a terrible daughter I am).

My MIL is in sunrise assisted living, she pays 6k for a higher level of care (in a wheelchair), but its a small shared suite (private room share living room and bathroom).

what's really intense is memory care, which is down the road for my mom. But by then she wont need a large one bedroom with a kitchen (which she doesn't use anyway).

Mom's facility is now 10K and unsurprisingly they have quite a few vacancies. I am wondering what others are paying in the DC area. Thanks!
