I'm a high school teacher and prefer Thank You notes to everything else. People tend to give me a lot of flowers/plants (but I am leaving on break) or food/chocolate (so much that it would be impossible to eat.) I am grateful for all of the gestures, but appreciate the notes the most. I do also appreciate tpt gift cards.
