All the restaurants I go to and it's down the hall, often past the kitchen.. not next to the tables.

A nice restaurant, where spouse and I made reservations for a special occasion? I would select a restaurant where the bathrooms are down a hallway or something, so that no table is "right next to" them. A quick dinner with a kid? Well, wouldn't bother me, but I wouldn't wait 45 minutes for that in the first place.

This sounds like a busy place - you take what you can get, or go elsewhere. Their seating option was not an insult or anything, but you were fine to go elsewhere if you didn't like what they had to offer. Sounds like it just wasn't the right restaurant for you.

Someone has to sit there. If you don't have a reservation and it’s busy, you get what you get. If you don’t like it, you can refuse and wait for another table or leave, as you did. The people next on the list were probably happy you did.

If I can smell the deodorizer or any other bad smells, I won't sit there.

How close are we talking? Like close enough to smell it? I’ve honestly never been in a situation where I was seated too close so just curious. I wouldn’t like it either.

Yes. If I am spending a lot of money on a meal, it's not acceptable to me. If you are charging $30 for an entree, you should be able to afford to arrange the restaurant so that none of the tables are right next to the restaurant. If I had to wait 45 minutes for a table, I'd be annoyed about it too.

If I'm just at a sandwich place or something, I will make an effort not to sit there but it doesn't offend me that there are tables nearby.

They can find somebody else to sit there.

I would have left too.

Went to restaurant yesterday, with DD. Waited 45 minutes for a table to find out they were seating us next to the restroom. I refused and they said you will have to continue to wait so we left.
