Subject: Algebra 1 review materials
OP Here. Thanks for your suggestions! I had taken a quick look at key to algebra and books by critical thinking co. They both look like what I was looking for--Something not too rigorous but still interesting and challenging. I will also look at other recommendations. Thank you.

DD worked on AOPS Prealgebra during the Covid Year because virtual classes offered at the local public school was lacking in many aspects. DD attempted all the questions in the book (including challenge problems) but with some of those were hard and it was a bit stressful.
When she went back to in-person school the following year, she felt that kind of rigor/challenges were not necessary. I personally think AOPS Pre Algebra laid a good foundation for her to do well in Algebra and Geometry. (She has the highest MAP score at her school, I am told.) DD is not interested in math competitions and she just want to do well in school.

What was "too much"? There is a lot in AoPS and Alcumus but you don't have to do all of it, and the easy/medium/hard stuff is clearly labelled.

I don't think this covers much in the way of the graphical side of things

Key to Algebra. This is a bunch of fairly inexpensive workbooks that should cover all the basics. It's a great series.

AoPS "hard" is orders of magnitude harder than anything in the equivalent FCPS classes.

We own the Pre-Algebra and Algebra AOPS and there seems to be a lot of reading to do in the Pre-Algebra vs. the Algebra, which seems more straight forward. Now, it still may be too much depending on how much review your DD needs.

Try Fairfax Collegiate online (or in-person) summer classes. They have several 2-week Algebra I options available. Perhaps good refresher material.
