my husband also doesn't like the way leggings look on women.

I can’t wait for leggings as pants to die a slow death. Even if you have a great body, they just look so juvenile. Dress like a woman.

He's telling you in the nicest, moving loving possible way that you need to start making an effort. Leggings are for exercise only... and only if you really look amazing in them.

I always wear jeans around the house and DH appreciates it.

I think you're looking for a reason to be offended and/or you're reading this the wrong way around. He's saying he "loves seeing you in any outfit." Soak up that for a second; it's a freaking compliment, OP. But you're focusing on the jeans vs. leggings instead. He just said he had a preference, which is tantamount to saying "By the way, you look good in jeans." That's good too. Are you so in love with your leggings/yoga pants you really want to fret over that, instead of putting on some great jeans and inviting him to help you take them off later?

Couldn’t agree more, especially the last part.

He can wear jeans as much as he wants. You can wear what you want.

Sure, it's normal. I told DH I think he looks great in v-neck sweaters and mock turtleneck sweaters, but crewneck ones do nothing for me.

+1. He would like you to get dressed in the morning and stop walking around in your pajamas.

How is it not normal? He gave you a complement by saying you looked generally, but prefers one look over another. Don't you provide similar feedback to your spouse?
