Asian markets are fascinating, but I just feel completely out of place. I have no idea what most of the products are and how to use them, including the produce. Personally, I find the huge displays of fish especially intriguing but baffling. I know I can ask for help, but it just seems so intimidating.

I’m at H Mart periodically to restock my supply of Okinawan sweet potatoes. If they were out of them when you arrived, I plead guilty.

I was just at one near Atlanta. They had a bank, beauty supply and home goods supply in it too.

It's 99 Ranch, not Ranch 99.

Ha! I call it Ranch 99 also. It has a nice food court. Roasted meats and dim sum I have yet to try.

We shop at Whole Foods weekly but go to H Mart for our Asian groceries and fresh mangoes. As usual, OP, please check ingredient labels for anything you want to avoid, like artificial colors, preservatives, MSG, that carcinogenic preservative in instant ramen noodles (cook them in water you throw out, then add the flavor packet with separately boiled water) etc.

At Whole Foods they're $5 for five.

Produce has gotten pretty expensive at H-Mart.

I went to HMART in the Wheaton location. Oh that place is wonderful. I bought some dumplings, a package of mangoes and udon noodles. I saw several rice cookers and my son picked up a back scratcher. We left both behind. I do admit I was a little intimidated and looked like a fish out of water. Are there other markets like this? What a great place!
