We have 9th graders in algebra 2 & trig. That’s an advanced track and they’re mixed in with 10th graders on the regular track. The most advanced track for us is algebra 2/trig, precacle, BC calc then 12th grade is linear algebra/multi variable calc

Glad I can easily afford to pay $50k per year for tuition. I also don’t need to post on a private school forum pretending that taking Algebra II/Geometry in 7th grade is a flex. Public school is legitimately better at educating math. Unfortunately it’s worse at educating everything else. My kids had experience at both, so speaking from experience. We switched to a top provide, but need to supplement in math to keep the kids on track with public and, more importantly, education in other countries. I am grateful we can afford this option. My kids have not kissed public school for one day, but both recognize math was a bit more rigorous there.

Usually it's Geometry in 9th, then Alg. 2, Pre-cal, Calc.
Some schools have Alg. 2 in 9th, then Geometry, Pre-cal, Calc.

The lower track is Alg. 1, Geometry, Alg. 2, Pre-cal.

Not the pp but was this really necessary. Calling all public school families the unwashed masses is ridiculous. So is the idea that public school kids HAVE to take AP classes to be competitive. Kids take AP classes to be competitive against the school peers who are taking them becuase that’s what colleges judge on. The also take them to get ahead i college so they can move into to taking major classes or have time for other endeavors, like double majoring, studying abroad, or even starting a Master’s degree.

Why does your school pair Algebra II with Geometry? Typically it’s paired with Trigonometry.
