Most every school has some ADHD kids in it. They make the decisions based on the supports and accommodations your particular child needs to be successful. Private schools only want kids who fit what they are prepared to do. If you haven't done a full neuro psych you should get one so you know what your child needs.

It really depends what the needs are of the child. In Silver Spring there is Barrie and Springwell. Sandy Spring is further out but there is a bus. They have been spotty with ADHD kids in Middle School. Again it really depends on the kid.

Newton is sterling, va was great for my middle schooler. Strong academics, good supports and my child was very ready for a mainstream high school. It may be a long way from where you are but they have a bus from Arlington.

A regular private can take some kids who need learning support but not a huge number. Call around and see who has openings.

I wonder about both of these questions as well. Was it the current school, a professional involved in your child’s healthcare, a neighbor or friend?

If it was a school or professional, they should have advice about some schools when putting out that suggestion.

We need more info for good advice, OP.

No to Barrie. We told the admissions person Dc had adhd and they practically hung up on us and suggested in hushed subtle signals that they are done with supporting adhd kids.

Sandy Spring Friends School and the Barrie school are good choices for a child that needs smaller class sizes and thrives with experiential learning.

What supports does your child need? Where is he now and how is it going? There are students with ADHD in every school -- it just depends on what's needed.

We have been recommended to find a private middle school for our Son with ADHD.

Can anyone share any recommendations in the silver spring area?
