What? Lewis is separated from West Potomac by Hayfield and Edison.
There are too many IB schools in the area and they increased West Potomac which detracts from people attending those schools. It's been proposed that only one of these schools be IB so it becomes more like a magnet school and the others become more equal. This has been talked about for years. Go back and do a search.
What does that have to do with Lewis and West Potomac? West Potomac is not a destination for Lewis kids trying to get out of Lewis. West Spring Field, South County and Hayfield are all better schools that actually border Lewis

Anonymous wrote:Was Lewis unable to field a girls varsity softball team this year? It appears that may have been the case, but not 100% sure.
If so, that's a shame. This isn't an expensive sport to play.

Are you kidding me? Softball is pretty expensive.
Quality bats are $400. Helmets another $50. Cleats, gloves another $200 or so.
The bigger issue is demographics. Softball is primarily played by upper middle class white girls. It's unfortunate and the sport tries to diversify, but what do the school's demographics look like?
Sure, you can spend lots of money if you want to. But all the basics would have been readily supplied by FCPS.
Part of what FCPS needs to do is acclimate students from different backgrounds to American culture and activities. Not sure they are succeeding at Lewis.
Anonymous wrote:Lol. People literally move heaven & earth to avoid sending their kids to a school like Lewis out of fear, and then complain that it can’t field a team in a sport played predominantly by those in the demographic that avoids the school.
