It used to be very common to have clauses in the contracts that the stars of a show would get $x extra for hitting certain promotional parameters using their social media. These go away as contracts are renegotiated and shows age. Also, instead of having the celebs use their private accounts to do the promo, shows now have 'takeover' days where one or two cast members will control the show's main social media account & post for a day. This helps control the flow of information and also protects the celebs from being bombarded with negativity on their private feeds.

That appears to not be a thing anymore, even with HBO shows that don’t release episodes all at once.
