OTOH, we have had neighbors who cleaned our entire yard after a storm with a new born.

But there are those who think that trees shouldn't exist - you are not going to be able to help their mental state. Ignore.

Just how much “trash” is your tree dropping that this is a problem? If it’s so much then you should take care of your tree.

This tree is either on your side or their side and I have a feeling it’s yours.


Circling back. I’m not saying what they’re doing is right, but if it’ an issue that is happening so often that it’s annoying you, there might be something wrong with your tree.

We have two trees that are right on the line. I have no idea whose they actually are. The property next door is a rental so we do the maintenance. One may need to come down. Idealy we would share the cost but i am guessing we will pay.

Doesn't matter: sticks in the neighbor's yard belong to the neighbor. Which makes sense because how could OP pick up debris there (or trim that side of the tree) without trespassing?

Neighbor is in the wrong but as others have said, this is not something to fight over. If you can find a way to do it without starting a feud, you could give them some yard waste bags since they are already doing the work of picking up.

Once we had a neighbor whose dog would poop on our yard.,, several days in a row. We had little kids that played in the yard. DH took a shovel and threw it back to their yard.

It stopped.

Trim your tree or just pick up the sticks that get tossed back to you. And then be grateful that it is only a few sticks and branches.

We live in Bethesda. Neighbor regularly picks up branches/sticks on her property which fall from trees between our properties and throws them back into our yard. These are trees that have been there long before we purchased our home.

Per Montgomery County’s website - In Montgomery County, and all of Maryland, when a tree or its branches fall it is considered an “Act of God”. This means the portion of the tree and the damage from it that is on your property is your responsibility to clean up and repair.

In my mind, it’s neighbor’s responsibility to dispose, not toss back.

Anyone else have a similar problem?

I’m surprised she doesn’t blow leaves back into our yard.
