I see patients (who frequently don’t show - I’m in public health). When they don’t show I don’t have much to do. On a busy week? Maybe 15- 20 hrs. Slow week maybe 5 or 10. I make 175K.

I make 100k and try to work 40 hours. I don't take long breaks or do chores during work. But my job involves switching focus between very different tasks frequently and I'm not at full blast efficiency 100% of the time. It can be hard to gain momentum when you finish one thing and move on to another, compared to when you get to spend several hours deep in the zone on a single project. I don't consider that NOT working though, I think most people aren't at 100% maximum productivity during all work hours.

I travel a lot though and weeks with dinners breakfast etc count as working hours for me those are probably 50 hour weeks

This morning, i replied to one or two emails so maybe 2-3 min? But i mowed, did laundry, went shopping...etc. So, it's been a productive morning.

I became a parent right before the pandemic switched us from 100% in office to almost entirely remote. Before 2020, I was in the office 40 hours a week, and probably actively working, I dunno, 30-35? I definitely took breaks during the day, grab some coffee, read the news, chat with a colleague. But mostly, I was working. Seemed about typical for me as an office worker?

Post 2020 - I dunno if its the remote thing or the parent thing, but I'd say I average about 20. I don't mean to, it's not like I set out to only work a few hours and then do something else. There's just laundry to be folded, and dog throw up to be cleaned up, and sometimes I'll prep dinner, and honestly, sometimes I'm tired and I nap or find myself doom scrolling for two hours. It definitely takes me more time to get going in the morning.

I make $105k, generally enjoy what I do, and I'm well respected at work.

I probably work 30 hours a week and make 75k a year. Wondering how many hours a week people actually work and how much they make. Not scheduled but actually working - I hear about tech workers working a few hours a day and wondering if that’s actually common.
