Yes, your stuff in your pockets. But your apartment? If you miss a rent payment, you might get evicted. If you miss a phone payment or utilities, you could lose your phone and power. All the food in the fridge at the least. Who will feed your pets? Etc. Sometimes you are arrested and held for days because of holidays or the court is busy and then you are released - but in the meantime, what has happened?

C'mon PP, this post isn't about what's in your pockets, this is about your apartment/house, clothing, car, sofa, all of someone's "stuff" that's presumably at their home.

Don't do the crime if you can't do the time!

Which would be unfair considering an arrested person is/should be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Because an arrest is simply a police 👮🏻‍♂️ officer’s opinion that you did wrong.

Ideally it would be nice to have the opportunity to get your affairs in order, but I doubt one would be given this chance if suddenly arrested & taken into custody.

I guess it would be entirely up to the person arrested to make necessary phone calls to SOMEONE who could deal w/all this stuff.

Would suck but I do not think anything else can be done in this type of situation….

In many states jail and prison are different.

You lose everything, even if you're innocent.

This. That’s why it’s a big deal when people get arrested for nonviolent offenses, arrested for things they didn’t do, or stuck in jail because they can’t afford bail. For someone living paycheck to paycheck, the sudden unplanned missed work will likely also mean losing their job, which compounds the problem. And if the arrest happened while driving, if their car is impounded, they may never be able to afford to get it back. So now we’re talking about loss of possessions, job loss, loss of transportation, credit problems, potential loss of housing… It can be ruinous. And it’s not always easy to get a replacement job when you lose your previous job because you were in jail, even if you shouldn’t have been arrested in the first place.

If you have family on the outside, they handle it. Literally. Sometimes people steal your sh*t. If you're poor, you generally lose everything.

For example in the Bob Lee murder case, if you’re arrested suddenly and then taken away without bail and looking at a lengthy trial?
What happens to your bills, rent, real estate, possessions, office, pets, etc in the meantime?
Are you allowed out escorted to deal with anything or just stuck? Especially if live alone and no relatives, what happens?
