I had a kid yell “shut up” to another kid because he was actually standing and texting the Pledge of Allegiance unlike the rest of his peers.

Parents are willing to accept Timmy has detention for doing "x" but when the record is permanent, they may appeal and make a school prove "x" happened, and good luck with that
I'm curious. Does anyone know how Permanent Records work? Or whether there is a policy about hate/bias to record acts on a kid's permanent record?
Is this real? I can't believe this is legal. If someone is disparaging a minor for life without a prior conviction in a court of law, I don't see how it will stick?

I didn’t know this had been rolled out and am curious to learn more.
BUT When I went to register for the meeting, the zoom links and flyer were only in Spanish. Does anyone know anything about the policy or the meeting? Is it just for the Spanish speaking community?
Curious about this as well. Was this meeting just for a specific school, OP?
OP here- no it looked like it was an MCPS event. Here’s what we received:
“Good Evening MCPS Families,
MCPS is hosting a caregiver event with a Spanish interpreter on May 31, at 7 pm focused on helping caregivers understand how kids are being influenced to promote hatred through social media, gaming, and popular culture.
With the new policy of keeping hate/bias acts on kids’ permanent records, it is critical for caregivers to understand how kids might unknowingly be promoting hate/bias speech.

I'm curious what they consider as hate/bias act. I see tons of bullying and fights on a regular basis that are hateful acts but because of RJ, nothing ever happens. That's why I'm surprised to hear about this.
