Subject: Kid was sent home- no sick symptoms but the mild cough
OP here: we went to a doctor and got a note that my kid is not contagious. Frankly the doctor was surprised that we came with a healthy child. Bottom line we wasted the entire day of work, paid for the doctor's visit and exposed my child to viruses at the doctor's office. I still do not know the reason for all that. My best guess is they were short on teachers and needed to reduce the class size

We have a handbook of symptoms and none of that would qualify.
sounds like they are understaffed and just wanted to reduce the class size

Agreed, this is ridiculous. I've never heard of this way of measuring temperature. WTF? I'd ask the teacher or school director for a link to a medical website from which they are getting this guidance.

We have a handbook of symptoms and none of that would qualify.

yes that is the plan, but we had to miss work and the doctor's visit is not free. I am thinking what should we do next time to avoid all these losses

I know we were not prepared to fight this - it is so ridiculous. Why 2? and not 3? Also like I said the number matched our thermometer in the ear and we calibrated our with anal one. We trust our thermometer,

We were sent home today (around 11am)even the child has NO fever/No injuries/any other symptoms from the policies ( DC area daycare center if it matters). When we came in the temperature was 98! The teacher said they add 2 degrees because they measure the forehead. We came with our own thermometer which measures in the ear and it was the same 98.2 . We picked the child because did not want to make a scene. The teacher said the kid is coughing(once is a few hours) and the nose is running(clear mucus). However half of the kids have the same symptoms and my kid has been like this for 2 weeks on and off. We saw the doctor 10 days ago for our regular checkup the doctor did not find my kid sick. We have scheduled the doctor's appointment for later today. In case someone ha been in the similar situation, how should we handle this situation?
