OP Here. Stats below. Should kid retake the NNAT or COGAT?

NNAT - 106
COGAT - 132
No WISC. Couldn't get one done in time.
GBRS - 2FO, 2CO, Strengths - Math (Y), Reading (N)
Report Card - Always 4s

Yes, the stats aren't the best but I feel like my child would do well in AAP. Just not the best standardized test taker.

We appealed and our kid got in, a friend of her with a similar score and package appealed but did not get in. It is confusing.

DS was not in pool, we referred and then appealed and he got in. Yes, we included a WISC and it was in the 120s. This was during virtual school and his GBRS was abysmal so we included description for why it wasn't reflective of him, including pointing to 1st grade.

a friend of mine, her kid got in on appeal with 144 WISC, but the kid should got in the first round with 140+ NNAT and 146 Cogat.

I haven't heard of many kids getting in on appeal. That being said, I've heard of plenty of kids who get into AAP when applying the immediately following year.

I also agree that it is a space-available issue. We appealed with low scores and nothing impressive and got in--his center school had two very small classes and clearly needed to fill seats.

Yes - my DC got in with an appeal 4 years ago. I think some of it is luck - like number of classes and number of kids accepted. We were at a center school, so if kids from the non-center schools had declined to come to the center, there may have been more space available.

OP, what are your kid's stats. I know quite a few people who got in on appeal, but every one of them was a kid for whom I was shocked they did not get in first round.

I appealed for my child when he was going into grade 3 and was denied. Did Level 3 that year and applied the next year using lots of work samples from those pull outs; he was accepted starting in grade 4. It stunk at the time but worked out fine.

I remember the appeal responses from the central office coming back really quickly, like within 2 weeks. It's good that they don't drag it out.

Had the same experience for my child.

I know a couple of people who appealed last year with high wisc scores (from GMU) and got in on appeal. But those kids really should have gotten in without an appeal.
