So nice to hear, OP. Thanks for sharing. I have 2 boys and unlike the first poster, I am aware that sometimes moms of boys only feel excluded when they form families of their own. I hope I will have the same good experience if my kids decide to get married and have kids. Cheers!

Why would people who have boys be sad? Why would you assume anything other than your boy would grow up to be a kind and considerate man? Isn’t that what we’re all raising our children to be, kind and considerate adults? If you have always modeled that family relationships, holidays, gatherings and communication are men’s work and women’s work, and that Mom and Dad are equal partners in the home, why would this be some kind of revelation or reassurance?

My once salty teen who wouldn’t mumble happy Mother’s Day if his life depended on it is now in his late 20s with a wife and a son of his own.

We went out to a nice brunch this morning and I was included. He brought flowers for me and his wife. I got his wife a present as well. There was no animosity no snark and I got a turn holding the baby and then gave him back.

I love my DIL and I think she feels the same. I help where I can and don’t hover. I see the baby once a week or so

I just want to let all the moms of little boys know that I’m not a sad boy mom and I didn’t miss out. I hope all those that have had a crappy Mother’s Day (I’ve had my share) know it can get better.
