I think they would be successful but not as well known. We have too many options now for music—much like TV—so you wouldn’t see similar numbers of fans or albums sold for most artists.
My guess is that average looking female pop and country stars from the 80s/90s could not achieve success in today’s culture. Cyndi Lauper, Bonnie Raitt, Wynonna Judd.
