This is extremely dangerous for customers and wait staff to have to step over your children crawling around the floor. I am a waitress and I hate parents who let this happen. While serving a table I had a kid take my knee out from behind while playing a game and that 100+ pound tray of plates and food went everywhere. Thankfully no one was hurt but to have the parent come up to me afterwards and tell me I needed to go apologize to there kid for the way I looked at him afterwards took the cake. I told her she's lucky I didn't use my words and teach him some new vocabulary. Today's parents suck!

It was very crowed and there was a table of maybe 3-4 couples with their kids who were I’d guess all under 8. Maybe 6-8 kids. The adults were drinking (as was I with my kids) and watching the band, and their kids were crawling among the chairs of the tables like rats. Like using the pathways between the tables as pathways. Getting in the way of servers with trays of drinks and knocking into people trying to eat dinner. There were tons of other kids in the place. I have never seen children so poorly behaved and the parents did absolutely nothing to even discourage them. I was so embarrassed for these parents. Would you have said something to the parents? Management?
Dont be embarrassed for the parents who didn't watch their children. Just be glad you got out of there with no incident for your group caused by tripping, falling by the kids. And be glad the waitstaff didn't spill drinks or food on your group. Just like kids and weddings no one can say anything. Same on planes as we unfortunately discovered - lap baby standing on my tray and in my foot zone etc.
What? No, OP could have politely but firmly said something. Just like on the plane you could have nicely said something about the lap baby on your tray.

Yes, and we would have left the restaurant if we acted like that.
