Anyone know anything about the neighborhoods within this zone? I've gone to look at a couple of houses and found the surrounding neighborhood looked a bit shabby, but maybe this doesn't reflect the whole area.

It will be a good fit for what you are looking for. Highly regarded school. Look at PTA website, school profile, and Virginia state school qualify profile. Military presence usually means parent involvement and better behaved kids, but not always. You should go for it.

Those neighborhoods has a express bus to Pentagon, so lots of military rent there.

Our experience is that kids come and go a lot. Sometimes it's rough when a good friend leaves. But day to day, there is no impact as far as I can tell. CW and the surrounding neighborhoods are great, and many military families who leave on orders come back after a few years. We love CWES. It's our base school, and AAP has been good so far. No complaints!

Thanks! Are you able to share more about the school? What kinds of clubs, sense of community etc.? I'm wondering if I could just request a tour of the school to get a better sense of what it's like. We're looking for a house but it's slim pickings. I'd like to find a school that is academically focused with lots of enrichment opportunities and where some/many families share some of our values--focus on education, enrichment, culture, arts, etc.

Honestly, anything you can share will be appreciated. Thanks.

My child is in Level 4 at Canterbury Woods and so far it's been a good experience. A new principal started this school year so things changed a bit around the school. From my observations, many of the kids in Level 4 are already zoned for the school.

Our DC went and had a great experience. Mind you Covid happened while she was there, but I loved the leadership and most of her teachers. I thought the PBLs they did were fantastic. I have a DC at our base school in LLIV and CWES does it better.
