OP again: Car would be used for local driving only. Have also been looking into Rav4 prime but it has a long wait. Did not fall in love with Tesla Y as much as I was hoping to

If you are doing predominantly local driving, then the electric is a good option. If you periodically make longer trips, that will be longer than the driving range on one charge, then a hybrid will likely be better for you. So, newer electric SUVs tend to have a range of about 300 miles (some newer ones are getting up to 400, but not many, yet). If you periodically drive places that are more than about 250 miles, then you probably don't want an all electric vehicle. Teslas as better because the Tesla charging network does provide you better coverage to get charges, but remember that a full charge from near empty is likely to take about an hour at a commercial charging station, so you'd have to build that into your trip time. So a large part of the answer depends on how you use your vehicle.

When we realized how high the dealer markups were we ended up buying a used one. $7500 on top of MSRP...for nothing in some cases.

I am a Honda CRV fan looking to replace mine. With everyone moving to electric, is it useful to buy a hybrid version or just go electric?
