Maybe start with something in-between like a Subaru Outback? I love mine, it was an easy switch from an old Honda Civic to an Outback.

Maybe you could at least talk him into a cross-over vehicle or something. It seems weird he's pushing for a vehicle you aren't comfortable with.

My guess is because she's the one mostly driving the kids around and they need something with three rows.

When people say "SUVs," these days, 99% of the time, thy are referring to a crossover.

OP, there's nothing to be nervous about. I would suggest you also look at a couple minivans, which are more practical, and in my opinion, easier to drive than SUVs (we have two SUVs and a minivan now). But I'm guessing your DH is opposed to minivans, so that's why he's pushing so hard for this.

how about parking it in tight spots?

Tight spots are not for you. But any regular sized spot is fine.

I totally agree with this. My current SUV has a much better turning radius than my parents sedan. The height and mirrors also allow me to see much more than sedans. That being said, the large SUVs are a big adjustment from a sedan so make sure you test drive. They take up a lot of the driving lane so you need to make sure you are aware and can manage it well.

I love my SUV. Would never drive a sedan again. I had a 9-seater until recently and parked just fine thanks to the back up camera

Same. We have an Atlas. It looked so big to me online and I was hesitant. It’s the easiest car I’ve driven.

How big of an SUV?Mine is shorter than your sedan. My only complain is the big elephant ear mirrors. A person fits behind them completely- can't see them trying to cross street.

Quite big - would have 7 seater option
Oh wow thought the mirrors helped a lot!

You need to test drive it and you also need to get a feel of the turning radius

My husband is looking into getting a SUV- I have always driven sedans and at largest the mid size.
Please convince me it wont be hard to drive - I am very nervous! I will be driving it as he wont take it to work far away. Thanks.
