I wear cream slip-on canvas sneakers with pretty much everything; the color is similar to the Chuck's a pp linked to. Off white just looks dingy to me. And white is too high maintenance. I walk, Metro, or bus everywhere so they'd just look horrid. Cream hides scuffs easier and not hard to get clean.

The 550s look super old man orthotic in plain white too, but they're in right now. I actually think the cream isn't as bad in that regard.

Can't you just google this and look for outfits you like?

Op here. I did and all of the shoe shades come back to white. That’s actually where I found the images I used. So I figured I would post here.

But...can't you just wear those outfits with your cream sneakers? White and cream aren't so different that you have to use an entirely different color palette with them.

Op back. That’s somewhat to my question. Why exactly white is so commonly selected over cream. I was curious if it is that cream looks poorly paired with a colorful dress or why are people not choosing the beige/cream sneaker figuring maybe I am missing a reason and thank you to each of you Pps for your points of view too.

I don’t mind the off white shade but would not want people to think they were simply old dingy shoes which raises a good point also.

Honestly I think most people are picking white because it's what's trendy, so it codes as looking better. Looking outside of trends, I think you're right that cream is a versatile and attractive color. It's just not the thing that is in style right now.

Also white Keds have been a thing forever, and I - not a fashion historian or someone who is especially fashionable - think that perhaps some of the white sneakers with dresses in summer thing stems from that.

The cream chuck taylor high tops (the ones with the red stripe) are great. But I still prefer white sneakers in general.

I love white sneakers with summer dresses.

Canvas off white looks better than leather, which tends to just look like a dirty or old white.

+1, the shoes OP posted look a bit dingy to me. I even run my white sneakers through the wash to keep them looking clean. Pairs better with cute summer outfits.

I think those NB are too yellow. Slight off white with grey and not yellow undertones would be better with summer colors IMO.

I think they serve the same purpose as white. Very neutral.

Can a cream color sneaker be just as versatile as white?

I do like the look of sneaker with dress for summer.

This is the cream shade I am
leaning toward in the New Balance 550:
