DH is a partner at a v10 firm and they are watching card swipes. If associates aren’t in 3 days per week it will be reflected in their bonus.

The firm also told partners they also need to come in 3 days per week.

Many firms are letting attorneys go because things have slowed down. At DH’s firm, Low hours + no office time = told to go.

My current firm is doing a non-enforced 3 days in 2 days out schedule. My practice group is spread across five offices, and there doesn’t seem to be any push for things to change. When I do go in, I often don’t see anyone. I will make an effort to go in to meet some of the summer associates because we need to be visible in order to get some enthusiastic recruits.

My prior firm, which was face time heavy before Covid, is actively enforcing 3 days in the office. They are tracking key card swipes and generating a naughty list. Most practice groups there are concentrated in one office, so there is a bit more in-person interaction.

This is true at some firms but useless advice at others, where partners aren’t showing up either.

There’s no one rule. I worked at a firm that was almost no face time even before the pandemic, DH worked at one that wanted people still in at 6:30.
